Hilltops |
 |
Description:
5 stars James Halliday 2012
Tasting Notes:
The 2010 vintage at Hilltops was marked by a warm, dry growing season. The long drought reduced yields and concentrated flavours. There is an intense black-red colour to this wine. The aroma shows ripe, black fruit in various guises: blackcurrant, blackberry and blackstrap liquorice! Great now if you love a powerful red, but leave some in the cellar for five to ten years to taste its full potential.

Viognier 2007 |
Viognier |
Clonakilla |
Canberra District |
 |
Description:
5 stars James Haliday 2009
Tasting Notes:
In 2007 drought and frost combined to reduce yields to only 20% of our normal crop. Barrel fermented entirely in French oak using natural yeasts, the 2007 Viognier is a full bodied white with potent honeysuckle, pear, ginger and apricot aromas. It shows the classic silky Viognier texture while retaining a tight structure and refreshing acidity.

2008 Alexander Munro Chardonnay |
Chardonnay |
Meerea Park |
Hunter Valley |
 |
Description:
5 stars James Halliday 2009
Tasting Notes:
2008, whilst very wet, has produced some terrific white wines from the Hunter Valley. Chardonnay fared very well along with Semillon and Verdelho. The 13% alcohol is no real indication to the flavour level.
It has fruit characters of white peach and nectarine on the nose and palate with a great line of acidity serving as a structural backbone. The French oak has added some complexity in the absence of malo, with the wine showing lovely spice nuances.
Cellaring: Medium term. 5—8

'Clonale' Chardonnay |

Description:
5 stars James Halliday 2009
Tasting Notes:
Here’s a wine that captures the yeast biscuity side of chardonnay winemaking, toasted almonds in the aromatics, creams and butters there, too, yet with fine and long acidity giving the palate complex slate and mineral attraction – one judge calling it “a triumph of subtlety”.

We are most excited about the release of our latest Cabernet Sauvignon.
Predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon (95%), with a small component of Cabernet Franc and

Meticulous attention is paid in the vineyard throughout the season, with careful canopy

Description:
5 stars James Halliday
Tasting Notes:
This vineyard, situated on a sandy/loam strip along Oakey Creek Road, was planted in 1999 and is already showing enormous potential. Concentrated, yet classically balanced, the slightly riper fruit suggests a more contemporary and generous expression of Hunter Valley semillon. The intense limey fruit and delicious minerality provide an excellent early drinking, food friendly style.

Description:
5 Stars James Halliday 2009
Tasting Notes:
The 2006 vintage was an extremely hot vintage with all varieties ripening up to 2 weeks earlier than normal. The previous dry years coupled with hot weather resulted in low yields and fruit that ripened very easily. 2006 vintage reds have an inherent softness about them making them very approachable upon release.
Deep crimson colour in the glass, plenty of ripe dark fruits and hints of earth, spice and licorice on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied; lush and rich with blackberry a

Description:
Five stars Jame Halliday 2009
Tasting Notes:
Once again, this years Creel Semillon was made from grapes grown on the Majors Lane vineyard here in Lovedale. The 2008 vintage could be decribed as quite challenging. Unlike 2007 we weren't bombarded with weeks of 40°C days, instead, harvest was cool and wet in fact, one of the wettest on record. These wet years traditionally produce intensly aromatic Semillon that also have tight, crisp, refreshing acidity
This wine promises enjoyment both today and also as a mature wine 10 years down the t
